Case
Study B - Space Savings
Challenge:
An
area hospital that was handling waste and recycling operations
in its small shipping and receiving area required unusually
frequent pickups not only because of space constraints,
but also due to the volume and nature of its flow of
waste and recycling materials. Steps and loading heights
added to the challenge.
Suburban Solution:
After working with the hospital staff to analyze
problem, Suburban installed a self-contained compactor that tightly
compressed and entombed waste products. This eliminated overloads
and storage problems – even during peak periods – and
reduced pickup frequency. Situated at dock-level, the unit also
eliminated problems posed by carrying waste barrels down stairs.
For corrugated and mixed container recycling, we recommended a
stationary compactor, further reducing service frequency and storage
needs.
