Town of Ogden
We’re currently seeking for approvals from the Town of Ogden to construct a 10,000 square foot structure on our site at 23 Turner Drive.
We intend to use the building for the purpose of transferring a portion of the waste we collect on our local routes to other vehicles for transport to the landfill. The facility design and the operations of this activity are strictly controlled and monitored by the NYSDEC. All activities are conducted inside the facility.
The goal of the project it to streamline our collection operations with the focus on fuel savings, labor efficiency and cost control. We’d like to be proactive and make investments that will help reduce our fuel usage, espically if or when fuel nears $5 per gallon again.
The intended use for the facility is only for Suburban Disposal vehicles. All of our vehicles are currently housed at our maintenance facility at 22 Turner Dr. where they begin and end each day’s route. Several of our vehicles would transport their loads, as they currently do, to existing local landfills and disposal facilities.
The current building at 23 Turner Drive has been continuously occupied by various waste hauling operations during the past 20 years including; Laidlaw, GETS, Action Disposal, Capital Environmental and Boon. Our proposed building and use would entail less vehicle traffic on Turner Drive than these prior operations.
Key points about the project:
- We intend to increase operational efficiencies through fuel and labor savings, cost controls.
- The construction and operation requires a permit and oversight from the NYSDEC.
- The intended use is for Suburban disposal vehicles only.
- All operations are conducted indoors, concealing any dust, noise, odors, etc.
- Vehicle traffic at the site is projected to be less than that of all prior operations.
