What Can Go in the Cart

Single Stream Recycling — No Sorting Needed

Newspapers, magazines, catalogs Bottles, jugs, containers #1–7 Aluminum and tin cans Clear, brown, and green glass bottles and jars
Office paper & mail Clear, colored, and opaque plastics Empty aerosol cans (non-hazardous)
Cardboard & paperboard (flattened) Household cleaning bottles (empty)
Paper bags

What Cannot Go in the Cart

To keep recycling clean and avoid contamination, please do not place the following items in your cart:

Non-Recyclable or Problem Items

  • Plastic bags, plastic wrap, or film
  • Styrofoam
  • Food waste or liquids
  • Clothing or textiles
  • Electronics
  • Scrap metal
  • Batteries of any kind
  • Propane tanks
  • Yard waste
  • Hazardous materials (chemicals, paint, oil)

Cardboard Reminder
Cardboard must be flattened. Large volumes should be bundled next to the cart

Cart Placement Guidelines

Correct cart placement ensures collection without damage.

Place Your Cart:

  • At the end of your driveway
  • With the lid opening facing the street
  • 3 feet away from: Mailboxes, Cars, Snowbanks,
    Other carts and obstacles
  • With the lid fully closed
  • Out by 6:00 AM on your scheduled collection day

Customer Responsibilities

To ensure smooth service, customers must:

  • Keep recycling clean, empty, and dry
  • Prevent contamination by following accepted materials list
  • Pull carts back from the curb by end of collection day
  • Maintain cart in reasonable condition (report damage)
  • Not exceed weight limits (recommended max ~175 lbs)
